I got into ham radio because someone got me a Baefeng radio for Christmas and I figured I've always been interested in ham and then all of a sudden I could HEAR ham it was more exciting and interesting.  So I got my license..

I decided I wanted to know more about digital and as I looked around I could only find YSF repeaters in my area so my first digital was a FTM100DR for the truck.  Then the next Christmas they had a great sale on the FT2DR so that was my Christmas present to myself.

Still having difficultly reaching the digital repeater from my house I went and got me a JumboSpot.and that opened up a WHOLE new world.

Next came a Hamvention where they held a mini-class on DMR.  Yep, you guessed it. I decided I wanted one.  So I found a reasonably priced one at the show and it came home with me.  Since my JumboSpot does YSF and DMR I'm all set and didn't have to get anything else.

But I must say, learning DMR was an adventure.  There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of centralized information.  I found multiple YouTube videos but only found a couple that were really helpful.  I still find some of the things confusing but I'm muddling along.

I'm a member of TEAC as well as ARES district 14.
